Arthur accomplished something amazing last weekend. He completed the Mental Elf 5k run on Worthing seafront on Sunday. He has raised over £300 for Mind Mental Health charity and was awarded a tshirt. He worked so so hard and only walked for a few minutes...he ran so far. He completed the race with Mum and his Nanny. Well done Arthur
Year 4 had a great time making their own Viking log ships. They designed their own shields, sails and dragon heads/ tails to go onto these. They then tested them in water and made any fixes they needed to, to ensure it didn't sink!
The visiting pantomime was an absolute triumph! The hall was filled with laughter, cheers, and plenty of festive spirit as panto came to Broadwater. It was great fun and every moment was enjoyed by pupils and staff alike.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to F@B for generously funding this event. Their support made it possible for our children to experience the magic of live theatre right here in school. It was a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season.

Year 4 had a fantastic lesson investigating sound and the concept of sound waves. We did numerous investigations to prove this, including using a balloon to feel the vibrations of our voices and tuning forks in bowls of water to see the ripples created by the sound waves. We are now very enthusiastic to continue our science learning all about sound!
Year 5 have been investigating flood proof houses and designed and made houses using structures and recycled materials that would stand up to a flood. They first built their structures, then enjoyed testing them on the playground and finally evaluated what was successful and what they would change if they made them again.
On Tuesday 11th November, Year 4 led the whole school through a Remembrance Assembly to acknowledge all of the people who died at war. They also created some poppy art to show the real significance of the poppy at this time.
Year 4 had a great time during their STEM workshop to start their new science unit all about sound. They created their own 'human piano' and used the 'oddballs' to create their own music!
This week, Year 5 have been exploring which materials might be best for building a flood-proof house. As part of their DT investigation, they tested a variety of materials to see whether they were waterproof and whether they could float.
Year 4 had a brilliant time designing and making their own Roman clay pots. They made a variety of pinch and coil pots and took inspiration from Roman pottery to create their own.

Year 4 had a great day at Fishbourne Roman Palace. We were able to see the breath-taking remains of Roman mosaics whilst exploring the exciting museum. In our workshops, we were able to practice weaving wool, create mosaics from real tile remains, write our names using the Roman alphabet and even role-play life as a Roman kitchen servant! We also watched a short film to find out more about Roman life in the past, the history of the palace and how the remains were rediscovered under a field.

Year 4 researched Celtic warriors and the Roman army and learnt specifically about their armour, weapons and how they fought. Toucan class took the role of the Romans, whilst Macaw class were the Celts. We made shields in class and met on the playground for a mock battle!
