We are proud to share that our Coin Trail was a success, raising £348.16! Pupils brought in coins and worked together to create a fantastic piece of art of our school logo. All money raised has gone to Mencap. It was wonderful to see such teamwork and creativity, all while supporting a great cause. Thank you for your generous support. We are very proud of what we achieved together!
Year 1 are exploring why church is important to Christians, during RE this half term. We have learnt about the things local churches do for the community, toddler groups, cafes and projects helping homeless people. In groups, children built and named their own model churches and considered the programmes they would host to show the love that Jesus offers and the care he has for others.
On Saturday Hugo went to Windlesham House to take part in a sponsored swim. He set his target for 750m but in the end did 1000m (40 lengths) in 35 minutes. The swim was for the Swimming Challenge, which raises money for community swimming programmes such as subsidised swimming lessons in Easter and Summer holidays, school water safety days, Worthing Festival of Swimming and Worthing Schools Swimming Festival. So far the event has raised just over £1000! Well done Hugo.
The weather was absolutely glorious for our morning of mini marathon running.
The Early Years and Key Stage 1 children and staff were up first as they took on the challenge around the school field. The determination and effort were a joy to witness as they powered their way round the track.
They accumulated approximately 2000 laps of the school field (around 125 miles.)
The Key Stage 2 children and staff then went across to Broadwater Green and showed incredible support for each other as they all pushed themselves to achieve personal targets. They too accumulated around 2000 laps, though the much longer lap at Broadwater Green, meaning this was around 500 miles!
So, as a school this morning, staff and pupils ran approximately 625 miles, which would be equal to roughly 24 full marathons!
An incredible achievement and effort and we are very proud of every child (and adult!)
Year 4 had a brilliant time making their own vegetable curry. They learnt how to peel and cut vegetables safely.
This week, Year 5 have been researching different people who have made a positive difference in our world. These included David Attenborough, Greta Thunberg, Andrew Turton and Pete Ceglinskli (inventors of the 'Seabin') and Saalumarada Thimmakka, one of the green heroes who planted hundreds of trees over many miles and was nicknamed 'Mother of the trees.' Using their research, they confidently presented what they found out to the class.
Year 1 began the week exploring items from a popular fairy tale. There was a cow, a pair of large leather boots, 3 magic beans, a golden goose egg and a map to an ancient land. They decided it was Jack and the Beanstalk and since then, they have been reading different versions and creating riddles about the characters. Today they have drawn story plans, including choosing how their story will end, how will the giant meet his demise? Or will it be a tale of reparation and forgiveness, a true "Happily ever after"?

Year 4 explored how they can use magnets for useful reasons. They investigated how to create their own locks using materials given to them. They realised they could use a paperclip and magnet to make a working lock for a door!
Huge congratulations to our Year 6 netball team, who are county champions after winning the county finals. This is an outstanding achievement, and we are immensely proud of your dedication, teamwork and success.
Our Year 6 girls won the partnership area finals last night and are now through to the Sussex County finals to represent the whole Southern Area! They were unbeaten and won the tournament with 7 wins and 1 draw against the other schools who had all also won their own local tournaments before Easter. This is a fantastic achievement. Well done to everyone in the team.
Year 4 had their first science lesson on magnets. They carried out different investigations and were surprised at how strong some of the magnets were. They asked their own questions and carried out their own investigations to find out the answers.
