    Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to look at our website and find out about Broadwater Church of England Primary School. The primary years of education are crucial to a child’s development.  Here at Broadwater we believe firmly in developing each child's full potential in partnership with parents and carers. This website can only begin to give you an idea of what our school is like. We would be delighted to welcome you and your children to come and see us at work.

    OUR SCHOOL VISION

Turn your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding  (Proverbs 2:2)

Broadwater is a Christian school. We will enable children to become wise, confident, successful learners with the motivation, skills and responsibility to make a positive difference in God’s world. Our vision is underpinned by the values we live by.

    VALUE STATEMENT

Our school values are underpinned by Galatians 5:22: But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

It is this fruit that, in partnership with parents, we will instil in the children of the school. We will do this by:

    • Providing an education based firmly on Christian faith and principles
    • Demonstrating and modelling the qualities we value as outlined in Galatians 5:22-23
    • Teaching children to love, value and care for one another and make a positive contribution to the world they live in
    • Supporting children to understand and value their own self and to gain confidence in making choices, developing self-esteem, self-confidence and self-awareness (individual liberty)
    • Developing mutual respect and tolerance towards others regardless of our differences.
    • Teaching children right from wrong, respecting the rule of law
    • Implementing our clear behaviour procedures which rewards good effort and behaviour as well as providing clear boundaries and appropriate sanctions
    • Encouraging, understanding and supporting democracy

Note – the statements in bold reference British Values (OFSTED)

In school life, this is demonstrated in the following ways:

    • Within our teaching and daily routines
    • Incorporation into curriculum topics
    • RHE/RSE lessons and discussions
    • Focus for assemblies
    • Class and School Councils
    • Child-led behaviour management
    • Charitable giving

    ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

At Broadwater, we believe in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where your child can thrive. Our school is home to around 430 pupils aged 4 to 11, and we are proud to offer a wide range of high-quality activities and facilities. From our specialised Food Technology area and computer suite to our dedicated music and drama studio, we ensure that every child has the opportunity to explore their interests and talents.

As a Church Aided School, we are committed to providing an education rooted in Christian faith and principles. We teach children to respect, value, and care for one another and the world they live in. Our clear behaviour procedure rewards good effort and behaviour while setting clear boundaries and appropriate sanctions, helping children develop qualities such as kindness, honesty, integrity, and humility.

Our creative curriculum is designed to inspire and engage our children. We focus on high-quality literature and use a topic-based approach, starting with a Stunning Start and ending with a Fabulous Finish. School trips and visitors enrich the learning experience, ensuring that children remain excited and motivated throughout their journey. The enjoyment of reading is central to our English curriculum, supported by Accelerated Reader,

We closely monitor each pupil's progress to ensure they achieve their full potential. Our structured approach to assessment helps children to 'keep up, not catch up,' with dedicated staff working with individuals and small groups. Our pupils consistently achieve above the national average by the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6).

Our dedicated and passionate staff are committed to maximizing our children’s learning experience. We continually strive to improve our teaching of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics, celebrating achievements and making children central to all our decisions. Every class participates in educational visits, and Year 6 pupils enjoy a residential trip. We also host theatre groups and speakers, providing rich and valuable experiences that enhance learning.

Broadwater has a strong musical tradition, offering lessons in various instruments. All Key Stage 2 children have the opportunity to learn to play a range of different instruments, taught by a specialist music teacher. Our children regularly participate in musical productions and have the opportunity to participate in a vast variety of clubs, including sports, music, and hobbies. We have a proud history of success in football, netball, athletics, and other sports tournaments. Our self-run Wrap Around Care program ensures that our children are well cared for before and after school.

Our active parent and teacher association, Friends@Broadwater (F@B), plays a vital role in supporting our school. They have raised significant funds for projects such as updating our ICT equipment and providing outdoor classroom structures. Parents are also involved in many aspects of school life, from helping in class and on visits to organizing social events.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our vibrant school community!
